Some important shit …

äh, was wichtigem beschäftigt ist?

What do you do when life knocks on the door and you are just busy with other important things?

LetsPlay 300x225 - Some important shit ...Erste Version dieses Cartoons – the first version

I made a second try on this cartoon (and some others) in May 2016 – I just had the feeling, that it had to be so. The first version was one of my first Crohn-cartoons and is important to me, for sentimental reasons.

Gfeanzt – Sneaky

Passt.

„Look at thie sneaky guy, cutting of one rope of the swing. You still have the other one, but you are not able to swing anymore.“

With these the words a good friend explained his child this cartoon.
I think sneaky fits it quite well.

English Versions

„Man sieht es dir nicht an!“ – „But you don´t look sick!“

I´ve heard hundreds of times „But you don´t look sick!“ and similar phrases.
And I suppose I should be happy about that. But it´s allways odd to hear.
Maybe I look good, but the illness is still in me and hearing such words tastes like „so stop moarning about how hard it is, it can´t be that bad otherwise I would see it.“

Thats a fallacy. Just because you can´t see it on the outside doesn´t mean it´s not in the inside. It pushes people with an invisible illness in a corner and they feel as they have to defense themselves. It´s a sour, bitter taste.
By the way: I only go out, when my mirror tells me it´s „quite ok“ and do my best to polish up before leaving the house.

Here´s a link I found, an english article, which describes this feeling quite good.

„It’s hard to feel comfortable in our own skin when it doesn’t feel like our own skin.“
Why People with invisible Illness don´t like hearing that we look good.

Long time ago I found another version to answere to this phrases in the web:

There is a complete website about this topic (in english), where I also discovered the spoon-theory I described in my book. Here is the link to the list of alternative answeres when somebody tells you „but you don´t look sick.“
